Los tubos se rellenan con un compuesto de relleno resistente al agua. Un alambre de acero, a veces recubierto de polietileno (PE) en el caso de cables con un elevado n\u00famero de fibras, se sit\u00faa en el centro del n\u00facleo a modo de elemento de refuerzo met\u00e1lico. Los tubos (y los rellenos) se trenzan alrededor del elemento de refuerzo para formar un n\u00facleo de cable compacto y circular. Se aplica un laminado de aluminio y polietileno (APL) alrededor del n\u00facleo del cable, que se rellena con el compuesto de relleno para protegerlo de la entrada de agua. A continuaci\u00f3n, el n\u00facleo del cable se recubre con una fina cubierta interior de PE.
