Os tubos s\u00e3o preenchidos com um composto de enchimento resistente \u00e0 \u00e1gua. Um fio de a\u00e7o, por vezes revestido com polietileno (PE) no caso de cabos com elevado n\u00famero de fibras, situa-se no centro do n\u00facleo, funcionando como elemento de refor\u00e7o met\u00e1lico. Os tubos (e os materiais de enchimento) s\u00e3o tran\u00e7ados em torno do elemento de refor\u00e7o, formando um n\u00facleo de cabo compacto e circular. \u00c9 aplicado um laminado de alum\u00ednio e polietileno (APL) \u00e0 volta do n\u00facleo do cabo, que \u00e9 preenchido com o composto de enchimento para o proteger da penetra\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1gua. Em seguida, o n\u00facleo do cabo \u00e9 revestido com uma fina bainha interior de PE.
