The tubes (and fillers) arestranded around the strength memberinto a compact and circular core. Thenthe cable core is covered with a thinpolyethylene (PE) inner sheath, which isfilled with jelly to protect it from wateringress. A layer of water-blocking materialis applied around the cable core toprevent water ingress all the same.
