Integrating FirstFiber's FOSCIA6 inline splice closure across our regional distribution network solved several multi-cable routing requirements. Featuring 6 total entry ports—2 ports accommodating cables up to 16 mm and 4 ports for cables up to 13 mm—it provides field technicians with flexible branching options for main feeder lines and smaller drop cables. The reusable mechanical sealing structure with thermoplastic rubber grommets ensures an airtight seal without needing heat guns. The enclosure holds up to 4 splice trays, accommodating up to 96 bunchy fibers (24 fibers per dual-layer tray) or 144 ribbon fibers. Constructed from high-impact Polycarbonate (PC) rated for -40°C to +65°C operating temperatures, it delivers weather-resistant performance across aerial hanger, wall-mount, direct-buried, and manhole deployments.

The product arrives as a complete turnkey kit furnished with standard accessories, including M8 and M10 wrenches, 2 aerial hanging hooks, 2 pairs of insertion plates, sealing tape, insulation tape, nylon ties, grounding wire, abrasive cloth, and fiber protective sleeves. Supporting up to 144 ribbon fibers, it offers fantastic scalability for municipal broadband expansion.

We standardized on the FOSCIA6 for underground pipeline and direct-buried splicing contracts due to its rigid Polycarbonate outer body. Secured by heavy-duty bolts and insertion plates, the housing withstands heavy soil pressure and moisture ingress without leaking. We opted to equip our units with the optional pressure testing valve to perform air pressure integrity checks prior to backfilling underground trenches. Selecting from orderable core capacities ranging from 24 Cores up to 96 Cores allowed our engineering team to order exact tray counts for different distribution nodes.
