Abstract In‑service fibre diagnostics are essential for operators rolling out 10G‑PON alongside existing GPON subscribers. Traditional 1625 nm out‑of‑band OTDR measurements are often degraded by Raman noise and filter crosstalk when fibres carry live 1490 nm downstream...

How do you guarantee the calibration and accuracy of your OTDRs? +
Quality is our top priority. Every unit undergoes strict factory calibration before shipment, and a Calibration Certificate is included in the box. Our manufacturing facility is ISO9001 certified, and all products hold CE and RoHS certifications to ensure they meet global telecommunication standards.
Do you offer OEM/ODM services for wholesale orders? +
Yes, as a direct manufacturer, we highly welcome OEM and ODM partnerships. We can customize the boot screen, print your brand logo on the OTDR housing, and modify the user interface language to perfectly fit your local market requirements. Thanks to our in-house manufacturing capabilities, standard models are usually shipped within 3-5 business days. For OEM orders requiring custom branding, boot screens, or specific hardware configurations, the typical lead time is just 1 to 2 weeks. We pride ourselves on fast, flexible production compared to traditional trading companies.
Why choose FirstFiber Technologies OTDRs over premium big brands? +
Customers choose FirstFiber for drastic cost savings, manufacturer-direct technical support, faster delivery times, and flexible customization. We use high-quality lasers and PCB components to deliver the same testing precision and standard .SOR file outputs as premium brands, but without the massive marketing overhead.
What dynamic range do I need for my fiber optic network? +
The required dynamic range depends on your network type and testing distance. For short FTTx/PON networks and LAN installations, a dynamic range of 24dB to 32dB (like our FF-980REV or 980EXP models) is usually sufficient. For long-haul metro networks or backbone testing, we highly recommend 35dB to 45dB (such as our 8000MAX or MK1000 series) to ensure accurate event detection over much longer distances.
Can your OTDRs test active (live) fiber networks without disrupting service? +
Yes, many of our OTDRs support live fiber testing. Models equipped with a 1625nm or 1650nm filtered wavelength (such as the 8000MAX-T2/T3, FF-990PRO, or specific 980RTC models) are specifically designed to test active FTTH/PON networks. This allows technicians to troubleshoot without interrupting the existing 1310nm/1490nm/1550nm communication signals.
What is the standard warranty and after-sales support for FirstFiber OTDRs? +
As a direct manufacturer, FirstFiber Technologies provides a robust standard warranty (typically 1 to 3 years depending on the model). We offer lifetime free software/firmware updates, remote technical support directly from our engineering team, and fast access to original factory spare parts to ensure your equipment remains in peak condition.
