Description

The fibers, 250μm, are positioned in aloose tube made of a high modulusplastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) is located in the centerof core as a non-metallic strength member. The tubes (and fillers) are strandedaround the strength member into acompact and circular core. An aluminumPolyethylene Laminate (APL) is appliedaround the cable core. Then the cablecore is covered with a thin polyethylene(PE) inner sheath, which is filled withjelly to protect it from water ingress. After a corrugated steel tape armor isapplied, the cable is completed with aPE outer sheath.

FAQ

Q1: What is the layer construction and main application of the GYFTA53 Outdoor Armored Fiber Optic Cable?

A: The GYFTA53 is a double-sheathed, corrugated steel tape-armored outdoor fiber optic cable designed for harsh environments. It encloses 250μm fibers inside jelly-filled high-modulus plastic loose tubes stranded around a central non-metallic Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) strength member. The core is encased in an Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) moisture barrier, a PE inner sheath filled with jelly, corrugated steel tape armor, and a PE outer sheath.

Q2: How does the GYFTA53 cable protect against water, moisture, and mechanical damage?

A: Protection is achieved through a multi-barrier structure:

  • Non-metallic Central Strength Member: FRP central core prevents electromagnetic interference.
  • Dual Water Blocking: Jelly-filled loose tubes and a jelly-filled PE inner sheath stop water ingress.
  • Moisture Barrier: Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) layer surrounds the cable core.
  • Corrugated Steel Armor: Corrugated steel tape provides excellent crush resistance and physical protection.
  • PE Outer Sheath: Durable polyethylene outer jacket ensures outdoor weather resistance.

Q3: What optical fiber types and attenuation ratings does the GYFTA53 cable support?

A: It supports G.652 and G.655 single-mode fibers, as well as 50/125μm and 62.5/125μm multimode fibers. Attenuation ratings include:

  • G.652 Single-Mode: ≤0.36 dB/km at 1310nm | ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550nm
  • G.655 Single-Mode: ≤0.40 dB/km at 1310nm | ≤0.23 dB/km at 1550nm
  • Multimode (50/125 & 62.5/125): ≤3.0 dB/km at 850nm | ≤1.0 dB/km at 1300nm

Q4: Who manufactures the GYFTA53 cable and what is its reference price?

A: It is manufactured by FirstFiber Technologies and has a reference price of $1.6 USD.

Q5: How can I place a bulk quote or request product evaluation samples?

A: Click “Add to Quote” on the GYFTA53 product page for customized bulk pricing or “Request a Demo” to request sample evaluation details.

When deploying direct-burial fiber backbones adjacent to high-voltage power corridors or heavy industrial sites, avoiding electromagnetic induction along the central core is paramount. FirstFiber Technologies' GYFTA53 Outdoor Armored Cable provides an exceptional structural balance: it utilizes a central Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) non-metallic strength member to prevent ground loops and inductive interference, while still offering heavy-duty mechanical protection through its corrugated steel tape armor. The 250 µm loose tubes stranded around the FRP rod create a compact, circular core that distributes mechanical loads evenly. For enterprise direct-burial and heavy-duty outdoor duct projects requiring non-metallic core isolation alongside steel armor, this cable is a top-tier choice.

Sub-grade dampness and water ingress represent major long-term threats to outdoor fiber infrastructure. The multi-layer sealing architecture of the GYFTA53 cable offers complete water isolation. Its construction features jelly-filled high-modulus plastic loose tubes, an Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) moisture barrier, a jelly-filled Polyethylene (PE) inner sheath, and an outer PE jacket over corrugated steel tape armor. Across our test sectors in harsh, waterlogged soils, continuous OTDR audits showed zero moisture-induced microbending or attenuation spikes. The cable also maintains stable mechanical performance across an extreme operational temperature range from -40°C to +70°C.

From a transmission performance and OPEX efficiency standpoint, the GYFTA53 cable provides outstanding link budgets. We standardized on the G.652 single-mode variant across a 40 km metro ring expansion. Post-installation spectral attenuation testing delivered pristine results, consistently measuring at or below ≤0.36 dB/km at 1310 nm and ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm, with a cut-off wavelength λcc of ≤1260 nm. The double PE sheath construction provides superior abrasion and UV resistance during rugged reel pulling. At an economical reference price of $1.60 USD per meter, this cable delivers enterprise-grade durability and transmission quality.
