ADSS-PSAGS Preformed Suspension Armor Grip Suspension for ADSS Cable

For long-distance power-line co-location projects, long spans between towers create significant dynamic tension that can easily damage standard suspension assemblies. We deployed FirstFiber Technologies' ADSS-PSAGS Preformed Suspension Armor Grips across an 80 km transmission corridor requiring span distances between 300 and 600 meters. The 15 KN gripping force provides exceptional holding strength without exceeding the compressive limit of the ADSS cable’s outer jacket. The preformed armor rods wrap around the sheath to cushion against localized bending stress, effectively preventing sheath deformation and internal fiber pinching under heavy wind and ice loads. Subsequent OTDR trace testing confirmed zero insertion loss spikes across all suspension locations.

When engineering aerial long-span crossings over rivers and highways (spans ranging from 200 to 800 meters), mechanical stress distribution is the primary concern. The ADSS-PSAGS model handles cable outer diameters from 8 to 20 mm, allowing us to standardize on a single product family across multiple ADSS fiber counts. The preformed helical rods dissipate aeolian vibrations before they reach the core buffer tubes, protecting against long-term mechanical fatigue. Additionally, the hardware's corrosion-resistant alloy finish ensures a long service life in harsh outdoor environments. This assembly delivers robust, reliable suspension for long-span aerial fiber networks.
