The FF-3303A/B handheld optical variable attenuator can conveniently and quickly complete the continuous variable attenuation of optical signals from 0dB to 30dB/0dB to 60dB, with a high attenuation accuracy of 0.1dB, providing 5 commonly used wavelengths of light attenuation function, backlight adjustment and display function, precise attenuation accuracy, and user self calibration function. It has a universal interface design, and the attenuation value is displayed on the LCD screen. Mainly used for the construction, upgrading, and daily maintenance of fiber optic communication systems and networks, widely used in fields such as fiber optic cable construction and maintenance, fiber optic communication, fiber optic sensing, and optical CATV.
Stress-testing high-speed optical transceivers and EDFAs in our R&D lab requires precise, continuous variable signal degradation. We procured the FF-3303B model for its extended 0 to 60 dB attenuation range and maximum input power handling of up to 18 dBm. The unit's display resolution of 0.1 dB and tight attenuation repeatability of 0.1 dB (in the 0 to 30 dB range) ensure highly reproducible Bit Error Rate (BER) curves during receiver threshold validation. Having five pre-calibrated wavelengths (1310, 1490, 1550, and 1625 nm) available on a single handheld device allows seamless switching between CWDM, DWDM, and PON test setups without re-calibrating benchtop gear. The onboard user self-calibration function gives us full confidence in long-term measurement integrity.

During large-scale FTTH and 10G-PON commissioning, evaluating ONT optical dynamic range under simulated link loss is critical. The FF-3303A model (0 to 30 dB attenuation range) has proven to be an indispensable handheld tool for our field verification teams. With a remarkably lightweight body (180g) and compact 186x100x50mm dimensions, it is extremely easy for technicians to operate inside remote street cabinets or aerial enclosures. The universal optical interface accommodates our standard FC/UPC and SC/UPC patch cords cleanly. Powered by 3 AA batteries providing over 48 hours of continuous field operation, plus an intelligent 10-minute auto power-off mode, battery depletion during full-day audits is never an issue.

Maintaining hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) and optical CATV distribution networks requires precise power level control to prevent optical receiver overload. The FF-3303B delivers impressive attenuation accuracy—0.25 dB from 0 to 30 dB and 0.4 dB up to 60 dB—which is exceptional for a portable attenuator at this price point. Real-time attenuation levels are rendered clearly on the backlit LCD screen, making work inside dimly lit distribution hubs straightforward. The continuous attenuation control allows our technicians to smoothly simulate physical cable degradation and splice loss across all 5 calibrated telecommunication wavelengths. A reliable, highly accurate instrument that effectively bridges the gap between field portability and laboratory precision.
