Integrating FirstFiber’s FOSCIP8 inline splice closure across our regional distribution network simplified multi-drop branching requirements. The entry port configuration—featuring 6 ports for cables up to 13 mm and 2 ports for cables up to 16 mm—provides field crews with excellent flexibility when splitting main feeds into multiple branch lines. The mechanical sealing system using thermoplastic rubber grommets forms a watertight seal that allows easy reopening and resealing without heat shrink torches. Designed with a durable Polycarbonate (PC) body rated for operating temperatures from -40°C to +65°C, it maintains airtight performance across aerial, pipeline, and manhole deployments. The internal layout holds up to 2 splice trays, accommodating up to 48 bunchy fibers (24 fibers per dual-layer tray) or 72 ribbon fibers.

At a reference baseline price of just $16 USD, the FOSCIP8 delivers enterprise-grade quality at an incredible price point. Featuring compact outer dimensions of 336 (L) × 180 (W) × 100 (H) mm and a lightweight net weight of 1.9 kg to 2.3 kg, the enclosure is easy for technicians to position during overhead aerial hanger or wall installations. The closure ships as a complete turnkey kit supplied with standard accessories, including 2 aerial hanging hooks, 6 port plugs, M8 and M6 wrenches, sealing tape, insulation tape, nylon ties, grounding wire, abrasive cloth, and protective sleeves. Supporting up to 72 ribbon fibers with orderable capacity options of 24 Cores and 48 Cores, it is a highly economical choice for expanding municipal fiber drops.

We standardized on the FOSCIP8 for direct-buried, pipeline, and manhole fiber splicing contracts due to its rigid PC outer body. Joined by heavy-duty housing bolts and an internal sealing grommet, the chassis withstands soil pressure and water immersion without leaking. The internal foundation plate firmly anchors cable strength members and buffer tubes alongside the 2 splice trays. We opted to equip our closures with the optional pressure testing valve and desiccant bag to perform air tightness checks prior to trench backfilling. It is a thoroughly dependable, reusable inline splice closure for long-term outdoor cable management
