Operating at 1550 nm on 9/125 um single-mode fiber, it utilizes core OTDR backscatter algorithms and automatic pulse width control to deliver precise distance-to-fault measurements without requiring manual parameter configuration. The unit accurately calculates reflection events up to 60 km (for 1 dB events) and non-reflection events up to 20 km across its 18 dB dynamic range. For field technicians who need rapid break-point verification without carrying a full-sized graphic OTDR mainframe, this instrument provides an ideal balance of analytical precision and operational simplicity.
