Description

The fibers, 200/250μm, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) locates in the center of core as a non-metallic strength member. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular core. After the cable core is filled with the filling compound to protect it from water ingress, the cable is completed with a PE sheath.

FAQ

Q1: What is the structural design and key advantage of the GYFTY Outdoor Fiber Cable?

A: The GYFTY cable features a non-metallic loose tube design with 200/250μm fibers enclosed in high-modulus plastic loose tubes filled with a water-resistant filling compound. It utilizes a central Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) non-metallic strength member and a Polyethylene (PE) outer sheath, making it immune to lightning strikes and electromagnetic interference.

Q2: What industry standards does the GYFTY cable comply with?

A: The GYFTY cable complies with standard YD/T 901-2009 as well as international standard IEC 60794-1.

Q3: How does the GYFTY cable protect against water ingress and electromagnetic interference?

A: Electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference are eliminated by using an all-dielectric FRP central strength member rather than metallic elements. Water protection is achieved via jelly-filled loose tubes and a fully compound-filled cable core.

Q4: What fiber counts, cable dimensions, and operating temperatures are supported?

A: Key technical specifications include:

  • Fiber Count Range: 2 to 216 cores
  • Cable Diameter: 9.0 mm (2–60 cores) up to 13.0 mm (122–216 cores)
  • Cable Weight: 88 kg/km up to 150 kg/km
  • Crush Resistance: 500 N/100mm long-term / 1000 N/100mm short-term
  • Temperature Range: -40℃ to +70℃ for storage and operation

Q5: What is the reference price, and how can I place an inquiry?

A: The reference price is $1.6 USD. You can click “Add to Quote” on the product page for custom volume pricing or “Request a Demo” for sample evaluation inquiries.

Deploying fiber optic backbones alongside high-voltage power corridors and lightning-prone rural routes requires an all-dielectric cable structure that completely eliminates electrical induction risks. FirstFiber Technologies' GYFTY Outdoor Fiber Cable excels in these environments because its central strength member uses a non-metallic Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod instead of steel. This non-metallic construction successfully prevents radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI). Fully compliant with YD/T 901-2009 and IEC 60794-1 standards, the G.652 single-mode fibers demonstrated pristine optical performance during post-installation OTDR testing, maintaining attenuation figures strictly at or below $\le 0.36\text{ dB/km}$ at $1310\text{ nm}$ and $\le 0.22\text{ dB/km}$ at $1550\text{ nm}$. At a reference price point of $1.60 USD per meter, this cable delivers an optimal combination of electrical isolation, transmission efficiency, and cost-effectiveness for utility-scale OSP projects.

For urban duct installations where conduit space is constrained, the physical dimensions, weight, and mechanical tensile ratings of outdoor cables determine jetting distances and field labor efficiency. The GYFTY series features a compact stranded core design that effectively prevents high-modulus plastic loose tubes from shrinking. We deployed the 24-core variant (9.0 mm cable diameter, 88 kg/km cable weight) as well as the 144-core variant (13.0 mm diameter, 150 kg/km weight). The cable provides solid mechanical durability, rated for tensile loads up to 1500 N long-term / 2500 N short-term and crush resistance of 500 N/100mm long-term / 1000 N/100mm short-term. Adhering to the specified bending radius limits (15D static / 30D dynamic) made pulling through tight conduit vaults smooth and trouble-free.

Underground duct networks in extreme weather regions require multi-stage water blocking and UV-stabilized outer jacketing to guarantee a 20+ year service life. The GYFTY cable utilizes high-strength, hydrolysis-resistant loose tubes packed with water-resistant compound, combined with a 100% compound-filled cable core. This multi-barrier waterproofing design prevents both longitudinal and radial water migration in flooded manholes. The outer Polyethylene (PE) sheath provides reliable protection against ultraviolet radiation on exposed riser sections. Across our northern test sectors—where ambient environmental temperatures swing from -40℃ to +70℃—continuous OTDR trace monitoring confirmed zero water-induced microbending or attenuation degradation. It is a highly dependable outdoor fiber solution for enterprise network operators.
