Integrating the FF-3215A into our field auditing toolkit has significantly improved our loss testing workflow on single-mode and multimode networks. The automatic wavelength identification and automatic frequency recognition (270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz) function seamlessly when paired with the FF-3115 light source, preventing technicians from recording measurements against incorrect wavelength settings. The InGaAs detector exhibits excellent optical performance with an uncertainty of ±0.15 dB (3.5%) and a tight linearity of ±0.02 dB, making relative loss measurements highly repeatable across field audits.

We deployed the high-power FF-3215C variant (-50 to +26 dBm working range) across our CATV and EDFA amplifier maintenance crews. The wide dynamic range easily accommodates amplified optical signals without sensor saturation. The device stores up to 1,000 internal test records, allowing technicians to capture an entire day's worth of power readings and offload them directly to a PC via the USB communication port. Combined with interchangeable FC, SC, and ST optical connectors and an impressive 200-hour operating time on standard AA batteries, it provides outstanding utility for long remote shifts.

The FF-3215 covers six essential calibrated wavelengths (850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, and 1625 nm), effectively bridging the gap between enterprise LANs and modern PON architectures. Setting relative reference power levels directly on the device enables fast insertion loss (dB) calculations during site acceptance testing. We also value the user self-calibration function, which allows us to perform periodic accuracy adjustments against internal calibration benchmarks. Weighing only 240 g and rated for rugged operating temperatures (-10°C to +60°C), it is a reliable workhorse for outdoor plant maintenance.
