Description

The fibers, 250μm, are positioned in aloose tube made of a high modulusplastic. The tubes are filled with a waterresistant filling compound. A FiberReinforced Plastic (FRP) locates in thecenter of core as a non-metallic strengthmember. The tubes (and fillers) arestranded around the strength memberinto a compact and circular core. Thenthe cable core is covered with a thinpolyethylene (PE) inner sheath, which isfilled with jelly to protect it from wateringress. A layer of water-blocking materialis applied around the cable core toprevent water ingress all the same. After acorrugated steel tape armor is applied.the cable is completed with a PE outersheath.

FAQ

Q1: What is the layer construction and main application of the GYFTY53 Outdoor Fiber Cable?

A: The GYFTY53 is a double-sheathed, corrugated steel tape-armored outdoor optical fiber cable. It houses 250μm fibers inside jelly-filled loose tubes stranded around a central non-metallic FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) strength member, protected by a PE inner sheath, water-blocking material, corrugated steel tape armor, and a PE outer sheath.

Q2: How does the GYFTY53 cable protect against water, moisture, and mechanical crushing?

A: It incorporates a multi-layer protective barrier system:

  • Non-metallic FRP central strength member
  • Jelly-filled loose tubes and jelly-filled PE inner sheath
  • Water-blocking material layer surrounding the core
  • Corrugated steel tape armor for enhanced crush resistance and mechanical strength
  • Durable PE outer sheath for weather resistance

Q3: What optical fiber types and attenuation ratings are supported?

A: The cable supports G.652 and G.655 single-mode fibers, as well as 50/125μm and 62.5/125μm multimode fibers. Key attenuation ratings include ≤0.36 dB/km at 1310nm (G.652) and ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550nm (G.652).

Q4: What is the operating temperature range for the GYFTY53 cable?

A: The cable maintains reliable performance across a storage and operating temperature range of -40℃ to +70℃.

Q5: Who manufactures the GYFTY53 cable and what is its reference price?

A: Manufactured by FirstFiber Technologies, the GYFTY53 cable has a reference price of $1.7 USD. You can click “Add to Quote” on the product page for bulk pricing or “Request a Demo” for sample inquiries.

Direct-burial fiber deployments in unpaved soils require a high-tensile, armored cable profile capable of withstanding severe soil compaction and rock crush forces. We procured FirstFiber Technologies' GYFTY53 Armoured Outdoor Fiber Cable for a 65 km regional backbone link. The cable's double-sheath construction—incorporating a jelly-filled PE inner sheath, corrugated steel tape armor, and a durable PE outer jacket—provides exceptional crush resistance and rodent protection. Crucially, the core utilizes a central Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) non-metallic strength member rather than steel, which prevents ground-current loops and lightning surge induction along the center core. It is an ideal, heavy-duty solution for direct-burial utility routes.

Water ingress into buried cable cores is one of the leading causes of long-term signal degradation and ice-compression damage. FirstFiber’s GYFTY53 cable tackles this challenge with a comprehensive, multi-layer moisture barrier system: the 250 µm fibers are housed within gel-filled high-modulus plastic loose tubes stranded around the central FRP core, surrounded by a jelly-filled PE inner sheath and dedicated water-blocking tape beneath the corrugated steel armor. In our field testing across waterlogged marshland sections, OTDR trace audits showed zero moisture penetration or microbending losses. Operating reliably across a broad storage and operational temperature range of -40°C to +70°C, it delivers outstanding long-term environmental durability for harsh outdoor plants.

Balancing heavy physical protection with low attenuation performance is essential when scaling long-haul municipal networks. We deployed the G.652 single-mode variant of the GYFTY53 cable across our inter-city transmission spans. On-site spectral attenuation testing verified pristine optical performance, consistently meeting or beating specified limits at ≤0.36 dB/km at 1310 nm and ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm. The central non-metallic FRP rod maintains structural core stability during pulling, while the corrugated steel armor protects against accidental mechanical impacts. At a reference price of $1.70 USD per meter, the GYFTY53 represents a highly cost-effective, high-reliability armored fiber solution for enterprise B2B procurement.
