Integrating the FF-3216 into our XGS-PON rollout provided our field teams with exact multi-wavelength pass-through analysis. The internal optical filtering offers outstanding channel isolation exceeding 40 dB across all four primary PON bands—1270 nm, 1310 nm, 1490 nm, and 1577 nm. This prevents cross-talk interference when evaluating coexisting legacy GPON and 10G-PON signals on the same drop fiber. With an insertion loss of less than 1.5 dB, our technicians perform live, non-intrusive pass-through power checks at the ONT/ONU interface without degrading active subscriber data links. The InGaAs detector delivers stable, repeatable readings with measurement uncertainty under 0.5 dB, making it an essential diagnostic tool for high-density FTTH turns.

Measuring burst-mode upstream optical signals on TDMA-based PON architectures is notoriously difficult with standard power meters, but the FF-3216 handles 1270 nm and 1310 nm upstream bursts flawlessly across its -35 to +10 dBm range. On the downstream side, the high-power headroom on 1577 nm (measuring up to +25 dBm) prevents detector saturation near the OLT transmitter. The ability to store up to 10 custom pass/fail threshold sets on the device has significantly accelerated contractor site acceptance testing. Field crews get immediate visual feedback on the color LCD display with a clean 0.1 dB resolution, and test records offload via the USB data interface for streamlined compliance archiving.
